The theme of the movie was love and this somehow convinced the producer that Priya’s overnight popularity can be used for betterment of the movie.

This was done by forcefully making last minutes changes to the script. Though, the director slammed the producer for asking to do such a thing as Priya’s role was never meant to be that long.

Sources claim that even the ending was changed for a happy one.

Sadly, her acting in the movie failed to impress the bollywood buffs and she only became a content for funny Indian memes. This somehow proves why the director was furious about making changes in the script.

Also, the lead girl in the movie suffered by being side lined. In an interview she was quoted saying, “I was actually very happy when Omar Lulu selected me as the heroine in the movie. But as Priya Prakash Varrier's wink went viral, makers changed the entire storyline of the movie, and my character was a bit side-lined. I actually felt very disappointed when my character lost its importance as this was my first offer to act in the lead role.”

The director’s version of the story

Yet another truth was revealed by the director itself. He said, “When the song (Manikya Malaraya Poovi) became a huge hit, I insisted the producer that the film should be made with good quality. At this moment, producers of both the Malayalam and Telugu versions asked me to make the movie with Priya Prakash in the lead.

He added, “Earlier, the theme of the movie was very different. Initial storyline of the movie was about a young couple who gets murdered. But things did not work, as producers asked me to make a movie in a different manner by highlighting Priya.”

It is clear that though Priya was a major hit overnight, currently all she is capable of is being featured in trending memes. Even the directors from south aren’t really impressed with her acting skills.
